Whether you have a few models you'd like to sell or an entire collection that needs a new home, Shorty’s Trains can help. We offer both consignment and direct purchases, giving you options based on the size of your collection and what works best for you.
Our goal is to make selling your trains simple. For larger collections, we can handle the work of sorting, evaluating, transporting, and selling the equipment so you don't have to do it all yourself.
Consignment
Consignment can be a great option if you want to sell your models while still receiving the proceeds from their sale.
Small Consignments
For smaller batches of models, our consignment fee is:
20% of the sales price
This includes:
- Evaluating the models
- Researching and determining appropriate pricing
- Photographing the equipment
- Listing the items for sale
- Communicating with potential buyers
- Handling sales and payment
- Packing and shipping sold items
Larger Consignments
For consignments larger than 10 models, arrangements are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Every collection is different, so we can discuss the size, type, and condition of the equipment and determine an arrangement that works for everyone.
We Buy Collections
Have an entire collection to sell?
Selling a large model railroad collection can be a lot of work. Sorting through hundreds of locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, parts, and accessories can take a significant amount of time.
You don't have to do all of that yourself.
For larger collections, Shorty’s Trains can arrange to come to you, evaluate the collection, and handle the process of getting everything out in one go.
Instead of having to:
- Sort everything
- Photograph every item
- Research prices
- List hundreds of individual items
- Answer buyer questions
- Pack orders
- Ship everything
You can work with us to sell the collection as a whole.
Our goal is to make the process simple.
We can come to the collection, look through the equipment, determine what is there, and make an offer based on the collection.
If an agreement is reached, we handle the logistics of getting the collection out, so you don't have to spend weeks or months selling it piece by piece.
